Rapa Nui

Rapa Nui, a.k.a. Isla Pascua, a.k.a. Easter Island

I first visited Chile in 2019, and part of the reason for the trip was the total eclipse of the Sun. I rendezvoused there with some friends.

After the eclipse, they continued on to Rapa Nui, while I stayed in Chile and visited Valparaiso and some places south of Santiago in Middle Chile — Rancagua, Talca, and Constitución.

An annular eclipse of the Sun would cross Rapa Nui in 2024, so I once again flew to Santiago and then continued to Rapa Nui myself. The eclipse was the excuse, the main reason was to visit several of the ancient sites. Then I would return to Chile to travel to its far south.

As usual, some of these pages are the result of me trying to organize a range of information, and remember what I saw and did. That's mostly the Background and Information page in this case. That means that it's rather different from the other pages and you might like it more, or less, than the others. If you don't like a page, I understand, try some of the others.
