Aomori
Aomori — Spring Festival, Prehistoric Jōmon Culture, and a Big Buddha
I flew into Tōkyō for a brief stay, then headed to the northern tip of Honshū. That put me in Aomori for its Spring Festival with colorful dancers, banners, and music. My main plan for Aomori had been the Sannai-Maruyama Site, a reconstruction of a recently discovered settlement of the prehistoric Jōmon culture. I also went to Seiryu-ji, a temple with Japan's largest seated Buddha statue.
