Tangier

I had flown to Casablanca as that's the main entry point from North America. After two nights there I took the fantastic high-speed train to Tangier. Once there I had to find the place where I would be staying in the medina.

Settled in, I visited the American Legation, America's first diplomatic mission. Then I wandered further in the medina, including up to the kasbah with its great view over the Strait of Gibraltar. I saw a few sights related to Beat Generation figures who spent time in Tangier in the 1950s and into the early 1960s.

From Tangier I continued by train to Meknès.
