Composite Light Stripe Images

There are two tunable parameters of a composite light-stripe image (CLSI).

The first is pitch, the shift in the image between successive stripes. If two light stripes occupied identical columns in the original video frames, they would be offset by pitch pixels in the CLSI. I have found that a pitch of 4 gives useful images, the program eod-to-clsi uses that by default.

Second is skip, the number of light stripes (thus slices of the 3-D target) that are skipped. Yes, this throws away data, but if you're trying to meet some viewing or printing constraints this may be necessary. Of course, the default behavior of eod-to-clsi is to skip nothing.

Below are the results of tuning pitch and skip for various data sets. I tested all data sets with all combinations of skip = {0,1,2} and pitch = {2,3,4,6,8,10,12}. That makes for 40 MB of data. The below combinations seemed to work reasonably well. I resized some images by compressing them along columns and thus throwing away some scan lines. The caption below each image tells the parameters used to generate it and any compression along columns.
